Dr. Burns and Prof. O鈥橦alloran deliver virtual seminar to the Control of Breathing and Airway Defence (CoBAD) community
The UF Breathing Research and Therapeutics (BREATHE) Centre organised and facilitated the Control of Breathing and Airway Defense (CoBAD) International Online Seminar Series. The virtual seminar series covered key elements of control of breathing and airway defence, including rhythm generation, chemoreception, neuromodulation, plasticity, opioid depression, inflammation, sleep apnoea, dysphagia, and breathing with neuromuscular disease.
Prof. O鈥橦alloran and Dr. Burns A recording of their seminar entitled 鈥淐ontrol of breathing in neuromuscular disease: Lessons from the mdx mouse model of muscular dystrophy鈥 is available
Research led by Professor Ken O鈥橦alloran, Chair and Head at the Department of Physiology, UCC, focuses on the control of breathing in health and disease, with an emphasis on respiratory muscle redox biology and neural control of respiratory behaviour.
Dr David Burns, Lecturer at the Department of Physiology, UCC, researches the control of breathing in neuromuscular and neurodegenerative disorders, with wider interests in cardio-respiratory physiology in health and disease.
The seminar series featured ten seminars from researchers based in Ireland, Brazil, United Kingdom and The United States of America. See full list below.
