F1 Form

The F1 Postgraduate Support Fees Form should only be completed by students whose tuition fees are being funded by a UCC Department, Tyndall National Institute, or a Research funding source.

This form allows a student鈥檚 tuition fee to be charged to a Department or Research cost code. One form must be completed per student per academic year. Original signatures are required.

Funding approval must be submitted each academic year. Previous funding arrangements do not automatically carry forward.

Notes for Students

  • The F1 Form must be completed and signed by your School/Department.
  • Select 鈥楩unded鈥 and choose 鈥楻鈥 (Research/Tyndall /Department funding) when registering online.
  • Upload your completed F1 Form when prompted by email.
  • Must be uploaded at registration or within one month of registration.
  • Register before submitting the F1 Form for approval.
  • Provide your Confirmation of Registration to the approver.
  • The 鈧70 Capitation Fee is not covered by funding and must be paid directly.
  • Students remain liable for any outstanding balance not covered by funding.

Notes for Departments / Research Centres

  • Incomplete forms will be returned.
  • Department name and contact details must be included.
  • Correct cost centre and research code must be used.
  • Tyndall forms must be signed by Aidan O鈥橳oole or Anne O鈥橩eeffe.
  • Copy of completed form must be provided to student.

Ongoing Research Student Registration

Continuation Year

If you have completed your approved period of study and have not yet submitted your thesis, you must register for a continuation year.

If not funded, the total fee is 鈧1,700 plus 鈧70 Capitation Fee per continuation year.

Students in receipt of funding should confirm with their funding provider or department whether continuation year fees are covered before registering.

Grace Period

This applies after your approved period of study has been completed (i.e. once all standard programme years have been paid in full).

The grace period does not affect or change your official registration start date or academic fee period dates.

The academic fee period remains fixed. For example, for a January start, the first six-month fee period runs from 1 January to 30 June, and the second six-month fee period runs from 1 July to 31 December, regardless of the start of the grace period.

All research students are entitled to a 3-month grace period at the start of their continuation year registration. During this time, only the 鈧70 Capitation Fee is payable. 

The grace period is calculated from the date of continuation year registration, but it does not alter the fixed annual fee period.

Funded by Company / Employer

You will need to submit a letter on company-headed paper confirming the details of the organisation to be invoiced. A company-headed letter must include:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Email
  • Phone number of the relevant contact person

Self-Funded Students

Students who are not funded by a Department, Tyndall, Research funding source, employer, or SUSI are responsible for paying their own fees. Information on fee payment methods can be found here:

Confirmation of SUSI approval must be uploaded as soon as available.
