Professor M谩ir茅ad Dunne gave an opening keynote entitled 鈥�Methodological monotony, conceptual cramp and theoretical tedium鈥� at the 鈥淢igration beyond Emergencies: tracing testimony and diaspora鈥� international symposium organised by Ambra Bergamasco and Tasneem Filaih, Humanities Institute, UCD held on the 28th and 29th May.

M谩ir茅ad with symposium organisers Tasneem Filaih and Ambra Bergamasco (UCD)
In her talk M谩ir茅ad pointed to the colonial vestiges that are sustained within education institutions at all levels and that remain integral to the production of citizen identities. In particular, she emphasised the implications for researching with mobile subjects and migrant populations. M谩ir茅ad also presented a joint paper entitled 鈥�Invisibilities and absences in youth accounts of becoming migrants: testimonies from Senegal鈥� on behalf of her co-authors Mamadou Sanghar茅 and Gunjan Wadhwa.
