Professor Barry O'Sullivan receives the European AI Association鈥檚 Distinguished Service Award

On 2nd October 2023, Professor Barry O'Sullivan, the School of Computer Science and Information Technology, UCC received the European AI Association鈥檚 Distinguished Service Award. This is the first time an Irish person has been recognised in this way.

The European Artificial Intelligence Association鈥檚 Distinguished Service Award is the most prestigious award for exceptional contributions to the European AI community.

Professor O'Sullivan's citation reads 鈥渇or contributions to the field of artificial intelligence through sustained service, including President of the European Artificial Intelligence Association, Vice Chair of the European Commission鈥檚 High-Level Group on AI, and the promotion of ethical and trustworthy AI.鈥�
